Description
The Casanova escape room in Venice takes place in Palazzo Soranzo, a Gothic mansion in Campo San Polo that Casanova visited through his protector, Senator Bragadin. It is a real historic house, not a stage set, with period furnishings that set the mood before the game even begins.
After a short historical briefing on Casanova's life and his famous escape, the doors close and the date is 31 October 1756. You are inside a replica of the Piombi prison, a cell lined entirely with old wood, and the clock is running. You have 60 minutes.
The game works like this:
- search the cell by lantern light for coded manuscripts, hidden maps and old mechanical devices
- decipher the messages Casanova left, thinking the way he would have
- work as a team to open locks and find secret passages before the Inquisition's watch catches you
The challenges are based on real documents and on the historic escape, so the cultural side comes with the adrenaline. Maps, encrypted papers and lanterns are provided. Before the session, everyone fills in a participation and safety form on site. A souvenir photo of the group is not included. It is a team game, so come with others, and it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
