Description
This Murano Burano Torcello day trip sets off either at the Cornoldi Pier near San Marco or at the Venice train station, depending on the option, and gives you generous free time on every island. A multilingual guide speaks on board only, so the hours on land are yours.
Murano is the first stop. A local furnace opens its doors and a master glassblower shows his craft live, then you have about an hour for the shops and their glass art. In Burano you get roughly two hours: enough to choose a place for lunch, try a Venetian aperitif or pick an ice cream at one of the cafes, among the houses painted in bright colours. Ask the staff on the boat about free entry to the Lace Museum (closed Mondays).
The last island is Torcello, the oldest settlement of the lagoon, with about an hour on your own. The big draw is the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, with its Veneto-Byzantine mosaics; its entrance ticket is extra.
