Description
Watching glass being blown is only half of this outing: this Murano glassblowing workshop sends you home with something you made yourself. The tour lasts about two and a half hours and starts at Campo San Bartolomeo, near the Rialto Bridge, where you meet your guide.
From there you walk down to the lagoon-side landing and board a public boat to Murano. A short walk on the island leads to a glass factory, where a master gives a demonstration of about fifteen minutes.
Then it is your turn. At a mosaic or glass bead jewellery workshop you build a piece from scratch, choosing from pieces of glass in many shapes and colours. You can make:
- A bracelet
- A key holder
- A pair of earrings
- A pendant or other ornament
The rest of the visit is yours, with some free time to wander the quiet streets of Murano. Your guide then takes you back to the landing and explains how to get to your accommodation from there. The round-trip boat transport is included, and the boat ride across the lagoon gives you a view of Venice from the water, away from the centre's busy crowds.
