Description
These Doge's Palace audio guide tickets let you go straight in without queuing at the ticket line, then explore the former seat of the Venetian Republic on your own, headphones on. There is no group to follow and no fixed route: linger in the rooms you like and move quickly through the rest.
The audio guide explains the halls, staircases and courtyards and the institutions that ran the Republic. You pass the chambers with works by Tintoretto and Veronese and the vast Great Council Chamber, then cross the Bridge of Sighs into the prison complex, where the commentary tells the stories of the people held there.
The same ticket then opens three more visits around St. Mark's Square:
- Museo Correr, with imperial rooms and collections on Venetian history, art and navigation
- the National Archaeological Museum, holding Greek and Roman sculpture, inscriptions, ceramics and coins
- the Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Marciana, a Renaissance library with decorated ceilings
There is no live guide, which is what makes the visit so flexible. It works well for independent travellers, couples, families and anyone curious about art. The Doge's Palace takes about an hour and a half; how long you spend in the three other museums is up to you.
