Description
On this ghost tour in Venice, the city changes as the light goes. After sunset a live guide takes you through calli and hidden squares well away from the busiest streets, to hear the stories of ghosts, unexplained events and tragic deaths that Venetians have passed on for generations.
The walk is about 75 minutes, in a group of no more than 15 people, so everyone can hear and stay close to the guide. Radios and headphones are provided when the group has more than ten.
Instead of ticking off famous monuments, the stories lead you to places tied to strange events. The route is built around stops such as these:
- Ghetto, Europe's first Jewish quarter, with its chilling tales
- Casin dei Spiriti, the so-called House of Spirits
- Corte Seconda del Milion, linked to the troubled legacy of Marco Polo
The tour runs in English, with Spanish also on offer. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, drink plenty of water in summer, and keep your phone handy, since the provider may contact you about the meeting time. Transport to the meeting point and tips are not included, and the route is not suitable for wheelchair users.
