Description
A Dolomites day trip from Venice begins with a driver waiting at your hotel, at the airport or at Piazzale Roma, and a Mercedes V-Class minivan that carries you from the lagoon into the UNESCO-listed mountains. The day is built around the views, with no long hikes between the stops.
The road follows the Great Dolomites Road through green valleys and over mountain passes. At Lake Braies a special pass lets the van drive right up to the shore, so you spend the time at the turquoise water under the rock walls instead of walking to reach it or standing in a queue.
- Cortina d'Ampezzo, the "Queen of the Dolomites", below the Tofane and Monte Cristallo
- Lake Misurina, with a view of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo
- Pieve di Cadore and Lake Auronzo
Along the route there are photo stops and free time to stroll and breathe the mountain air. Lunch is not included: you can eat at a mountain lodge or in a local restaurant. With the minivan, the driver and the guide handling the road, the Dolomites fit comfortably into a single day.
