Description
This Murano and Burano tour from Venice begins with a ride by semi-private water taxi from the area of St. Mark's Square, in a small group of no more than 10 travellers. Your local guide gives live commentary in English along the way.
The first island is Murano, home of Venetian glassmaking. In a traditional glass factory you tour the furnace and the showroom, look over handmade pieces and hear how the craft took shape. The highlight is a live demonstration, as a master artisan turns molten glass into a finished object before your eyes.
Next the boat continues to Burano, a colourful island of canals. Here a lace demonstration shows how the island's famous needlework is made, and the lace shops and the traditional bussolà cookies are there to be discovered.

The whole outing takes about four hours, with a longer version of around four and a half. Check the title of the option you book, because not every version includes every service. Hotel pickup and meals are not part of the tour, it is not suited to people with reduced mobility, and it does not run in exceptional high tide.
