Description
A Murano Burano Torcello tour by bragozzo puts you aboard a traditional Venetian boat that once worked the lagoon. Your hosts are Michael or Francesco, two Venetians who run the trip personally and steer clear of the busiest tourist routes.
The first landing is Murano, where master glassmakers give a live demonstration in a historic glassworks, so you can watch the glass take shape up close. Then the boat heads for Burano, the island of colourful houses and lacemaking. You get free time to wander and take photos, a visit to a lace workshop and a lunch break, at a restaurant the skipper recommends if you like.
The cruise carries on through Torcello, where Venetian civilization began, and past San Francesco del Deserto, a calm island that Franciscan friars still inhabit.
